Smart Cart

Smart Cart

This app went through 7 rounds of user testing and 18 users. It was conceived and created over a period of 3 weeks.

Since this app will be used (more than likely) while people are walking through a store, I made the buttons large and sections color coded. One of my requirements was that I make the app functional above aesthetics.

Smart Cart went through 7 rounds of user testing and 18 users. It was conceived and created over a period of 3 weeks.

The Big Idea

I wanted the app to calculate the total as the user shopped. As well as have the functionality to import a list and keep track of past spending practices.

These three basic parts would be accomplished by color coding the different parts of the app.

This is the Smart Cart app, which helps you create lists, import those lists for shopping and view shopping history.

Features

Price Comparison

The price comparison tool is something I felt would be an invaluable feature for the app. Most everyone agreed, except a few who said they don’t really care about prices. Outliers.

Cart Items

As the user is shopping they have the option to scan items “into their cart” and human error is built into the system, because they can also remove items, or manually add them.

Past Purchases

This app keeps track of past expenses, if the user is using the scan feature, then saving their bill at the end. The app will graph it, and show you when food prices are cheapest.
